The BMW E30 3 series became an overnight success when it was first released in 1982. All buyers shared one common attribute. They liked driving. The E30 was a must for those craving rear wheel drive. Incredible driveability, compactness blended with German build quality. The 325i packed a mighty punch in BMW sales and performance figures with 169 bhp and 225 Nm of torque, the 325 was already a super sporty drive.

However, the BMW marketing guys realised that some of its loyal customers desired that extra sporting edge. Usability, right hand drive, and that already legendary, smooth straight 6 engine, gave the driver a more refined alternative to the M3.
Over the last few decades, the 3 series brand has seen some radical design changes but none have succeeded at replicating the fine balance of unadulterated pleasure and performance that was once seen in the E30. Aged like a fine wine, even today the E30 is one of the most sought-after models to have come out of Munich.

Featured here is the second and final generation of the Sport, commonly referred to as the M-tech II with its predecessor being the M-tech I. BMW took the standard 325i – 2 door coupe, added a limited slip differential, a closer ratio manual gearbox, 15” wheels with 205/55/15 tyres, lower and stiffer M-Technic suspension, sports front seats, sports steering wheel, sports gear knob, anthracite headlining, and a full exterior M-Technic kit including front and rear spoilers, sill, door mouldings and rear boot spoiler
Having spent the last 14 years in a concours winning collection alongside his E46 M3 CSL, E30 M3 Sport Evolution, E36 M3 3 litre and a series-2a Land Rover, to name but a few, it is now time to find a new custodian for this extremely low mileage, concourse example. A very well-known example within the BMW Car Club having competed at Masterclass concours.

Having passed through our workshop for our normal thorough inspection and report, the following work will be carried out prior to hand over of the new owner.

Finding any decent E30 from a 316 to an M3 is now very tricky. Most E30s went through that period when the values attracted either owners who simply did not look after them or owners who wanted to heavily modify these cars for fast road and track work. When our workshop is presented with cars of this calibre, they cause quite a stir. Not only 44,400 miles, but benefitting from a full-service history, un-welded, all original panels, stunning cosmetically and with a comprehensive history file.

The 325i Sport oozed class and sophistication, whilst aiming at the motoring enthusiast.

Our Thoughts
Examples as pure and unmolested as this come along very rarely.
