Those who have driven and owned Alpina cars, get it! We are asked all the time, what makes an Alpina so special? It’s hard to pinpoint, as it’s the entire driving experience that is so cunningly devised by Alpina. They just seem to know what the Alpina buyer desires. They are different from an M product. Not quite as harsh and yet takes a standard BMW and produces something truly ingenious.

The most enthusiast performance driver will be in a very happy space whilst also being able to drive cross continent journeys in a cabin that feels sporty with the extra touch of luxury those longer journeys demand. Alpina’s experience means they always get it right and with each new model the wisdom of the past means we are never disappointed with the next generation of Alpina. The E46 Alpina B3 was just such a car, yet another game changer when launched with the 3.3 litre motor and based on the 328 in 1999.

History

In 2002 we saw the exciting introduction of the final evolution of the E46 B3. Now based on the 330 and with an all new 3.4 litre, DOHC, 4 valve per cylinder, strait-6 producing a very lively 300 hp. 362 Nm of torque, ensured that silky-smooth power delivery that always give Alpina Automobiles that refined engine response from low RPM.

The Alpina B3 S package created a very special feeling car, not just from the driving seat but also to the astute spectator. The E46 had already carved out a massive following and the B3 S gave those potential buyers something truly exciting,  although that came with a healthy price tag of £54,720.

Alpina front and rear spoilers, 18” Alpina Classic wheels with Michelin tyres, Alpina stripes, Alpina suspension, Alpina 3.4 litre engine, Alpina inlet manifold, Alpina manifolds and exhaust system,  Alpina Switch-Tronic gearbox, longer differential ratio, uprated prop shaft, Alpina steering wheel, Alpina leather and interior trim, Alpina Instruments and the all important Alpina Dash plaque.

Workshop Preparation

Having maintained and cared for many B3s in the workshop through the years, it would be safe to say that this is without doubt the best example of a B3 we have seen in years.

The attention to detail is remarkable.  The underside of the car is utterly amazing – and please do ask for further pictures. We very sympathetically protected the underside of the car and its cavities with clear protection wax.

We have carried out an inspection II service on the car, new brake fluid and coolant as well as that all so important bodyshell protection

The car is currently owned by a great friend and customer of the Hero Motor Company who asked us to carry out the pre-sale’s inspection of this car prior to his purchase. We gave it the green light with flying colours and described it as simply phenomenal condition throughout.
