The introduction of the M4 CSL was aligned with the 50th Birthday of the brand we have all grown to love - M or to us older fans, BMW Motorsport. My career started 33 years ago selling and repairing the legendary 3.0 CSLs that dominated international motor racing. This is now the third time I have seen that famous CSL badge stuck on the back of a true stripped out lightweight M car.

The aforementioned carbon roof, bonnet, and boot lid along with the stripped out interior, lightweight carbon bucket seats, lightweight grill, rear seat delete saw a weight saving of 100KG - that gave an impressive power to weight ratio of 2.95 KG / HP. 1625 KG, 550 HP, a highly developed chassis, some clever electronic geekery gave a 0-60 time of just 3.7 seconds and a top speed 190 MPH. This all new CSL lapped the Nurburgring in just 7 mins 20 seconds.
The Engineers at M were set the task of producing another highly track focused car with an element of road usability. The end result saw 1,000 units of with only 100 right hand drive examples destined to reach UK shores.
The enthusiast was presented with a lightened and tweaked M4 that provided a superb driver focused weapon that had poise and purpose. A carbon roof, mirrors, interior, CSL boot lid, bonnet and front splitter helped loose the kilos whilst the beautiful 20” wheels all helped shape a ferocious yet elegant automobile with a track ready stance.

The 3-litre, twin turbocharged, strait 6, 24-valve, twin-cam motor saw horsepower lifted to 550 HP with tarmac tearing torque of 650 Nm giving mind bending performance.
Power is fed through an 8 Speed program selectable, paddle shift box, M differential, M Drive Professional, carbon ceramic brakes, Integrated M specific brake system, adaptive and adjustable electronic suspension (lowering the car by 8mm), solid gearbox mounts, M 20” wheels with Michelin Cup 2 R tyres, titanium rear exhaust box and alloy front cross brace all work together to create a truly awesome drivers’ car.

Our Thoughts
“The 1973 3.0 CSL Batmobile was a game changer to motor racing. The 2003 M3 CSL is now legend and you will not be disappointed with the next generation of Leichtbau Coupe to carry the CSL script.”
